Expanding in Ecuador

EcuadorSometimes the simplest things can create the greatest problems. Solving those problems, however, can sometimes be the threshold to even greater blessings.

As a ministry that works in several different countries, we spend a lot of time (and money) wrestling with things like shipping, packaging, customs and delivery schedules. Every three months or so, we need to send a box containing the materials for the next module of Seminario Bautista Panamericano to every one of our Study Centers. Generally speaking, that box contains a notebook with all of the written materials, DVDs and supplemental text books. Every box that enters a country is subject to customs inspections and fees. That means the process of sending a module incurs both shipping and customs costs. Shipping also takes time and the customs process adds even more time.

SBP Office in Ecuador

For several years we have prayed about the possibility of opening distribution centers in various points in Latin America. This would help us save money and avoid excessive shipping times. It would also give a “local” point of contact for pastors and study center directors. This month, Lord willing, we will be opening our first in the country of Ecuador. Franco Loyola, an SBP graduate and pastor of Iglesia Bautista de la Fe (Faith Baptist Church) in Santo Domingo, Ecuador will be assisting us with this project.

Both Chris Owens and Bob Reed will be going to Ecuador this week to open this office, train local personnel and establish the policies that will allow us to ensure that the operation of SBP in Ecuador is just like the operation of SBP in the US.

During the trip, we had hoped to be able to meet pastors from across the country who might be interested in establishing SBP Study Centers in their churches.  Once again, the Lord has opened a tremendous door for us. Rather than traveling throughout the country to meet these men, we have been invited to present the work in during a national conference for Pastor’s who will be meeting in the very city where we will be!

Pray for us

Please pray for Chris and Bob during this trip. Pray specifically for:

  1. Safe Travel
  2. Good Health
  3. Those who will be taking the responsibilities of the national SBP office
  4. Productive days as we set up the new office operation
  5. New study centers in Ecuador

We’ll try to keep you up to date with news from the trip both here on our website and on our Facebook page.
