The start of a new school year is always exciting! New courses, new teachers and an opportunity to start right so that you can finish well.

GBS President Chris Owens and Bob Reed, Executive Director of the ministry, had the opportunity to take part in the opening of a new school year with an eager group of students in Santo Domingo, Ecuador tonight. These students attend Seminario Bautista Pamericano, the Spanish-language ministry of Global Baptist Schools.

SBP offers a three year program, taught over the course of 9 study modules, which is operated by a local church. This study center is a part of the ministry of Iglesia Bautista de la Fe (Faith Baptist Church). This is the third year of the school, so there are now three separate groups of students who meet each week to study. The most  advanced group began Module 7 tonight РThe Doctrine of the Second Coming of Christ. Second year students began Module 4 where they will study The Person and Work of Christ and The Doctrine of the Atonement. Joining those 28 upper level students are another 48 students who are beginning their very first module!

Both Chris and Bob addressed these students, encouraging them in their studies. Please pray for them. The advanced students are not only completing their course work, they are also very involved in the busy ministry of their church. Most of them are in key positions of service and leadership. Pray for the first year students as well, that they will quickly adapt to their studies and be persistent over these next three years.
